Hi James. The best thing to do to insulate the belly is to cover the entire area with an underbelly material. It just rolls out and can be secured to the framing on the sides with screws. As you are installing it you can add insulation to areas that are needed. This is the best way to do it. You won’t be able to protect any water lines from freezing unless you have an underbelly and run furnace ducts to the area. Insulation alone doesn’t protect the lines. They do make line heaters and full tank heaters as well that could help too. I will share a link to the underbelly material.

Hello Candace,

Thank you for contacting us. Here is the experts response:

It depends on what you are using at the heat source. Some electric heat options use a lot of power and the electric can add up but the furnace runs off of propane and that is typically more expensive. If you are using a heat pump it may use more electric than a space heater so the price will add up more. Technically propane is more expensive but electric heaters have to run longer. Propane heaters work better so they run less but with the price of propane sometimes it will be more. I recommend using propane if the nights get really cold but for normal warming using electric sources.

Sincerely,

We are full timing at home in Oklahoma and paying for both.

I don’t know the exact layout of that model but there is usually access through a side panel or from underneath to gain access to it for maintenance. Some panels open for access, some open and then have another panel that needs removed and some just come off. There are many different ways manufactures have used but there should be a way to get to that area.
