If you’re like us, you could always use more space in your RV, especially in the bedroom. Most RVs aren’t known for their overly spacious sleeping quarters, but thanks to advancements in slide room technology, manufacturers offer newer and better ways to get that little bit extra room to move around.

The majority of RVs nowadays come equipped with some form of main cabin slideout that allows travelers to maximize their living space when they arrive at their destination. However, more recently manufacturers have developed a way to add space in the bedroom. It’s called the Accu-Slide cable slide room, and it’s a must-have for all extended-stay RVers.

Design and operation of the Accu-Slide

Built directly into your bedroom’s wardrobe, the Accu-Slide maximizes space while remaining entirely inconspicuous. Expert Dave Solberg explains how its motorized mechanism is hidden in the structure of the wardrobe, and demonstrates what it looks like when you retract and detract the slideout.

Thanks to a simple setup of cable pulleys and chain gears, the room can be pushed out and pulled in in a matter of seconds. And because it gets its juice from the house 12-volt battery, the Accu-Slide doesn’t need any special rig or cumbersome battery mounting. Plus, Dave talks about the all-important seals and flanges that, respectively, give you an airtight border and clean off the top of the slideout so you don’t need to do much maintenance. With the Accu-Slide cable slide room, you’ll enjoy plenty of extra space without any hassle!

I, too (like “Tab”) was looking to find out what maintenance is required for the cable slide-out system. Do you have any information on that?

      Hello Linda,

The cable slide typically have very little maintenance other than checking the slack in the cable and chain as indicated in the video and adjust accordingly. It’s also a good idea to treat the rubber gaskets once a year with ProtectAll Conditioner to make them soft and visually inspect to make sure the gasket is attached and in good condition. One more tip; make sure the roof is clean of debris such as sticks and acorns before bringing the room in. If not, they will tear up the gasket and you will have moisture penetration issues!

      Thanks,

      David

      Hello Linda,

To provide more specific troubleshooting information on your slideroom issue we need the type of slide and the mechanism. If it’s a hydraulic slide mechanism I would start by checking the hydraulic fluid level. If it is low, the motor will run but will be pushing air and does not have enough pressure to move the room. Check out the video on the Lippert system on our site here: https://www.rvrepairclub.com/video/troubleshoot-lippert-slide-out-motor-011520/

Make sure your rig is level and stabilized and you are not trying to push a room out in a cut out that has twisted?

      Thanks,
      David

Video falls short of description. Does not cover any maintenance items nor how to move the slide out if power goes out. A 1:28 second video cannot possibly cover the subject matter necessary in covering how to operate and maintain a accu-slide cable slide room.
