Manatee Hammock Campground Review
Jason & Lisa McEwenOn the shore of the Indian River Lagoon, Manatee Hammock Campground is a county campground spread across 26 acres that’s a quiet oasis for RV travelers. Located directly east of Orlando and fairly close to Port Canaveral, Manatee Hammock Campground is located in Brevard County, Florida.
Best features
You’ll find a picturesque park with a great pier for fishing or a daytime stroll. But, the park’s location is perhaps its best feature. The RV campground is a natural paradise tucked within a hammock of pines and palms, but it’s very close to urban amenities and the Kennedy Space Station.
Campground popularity
Manatee Hammock Campground is run by Brevard county, so you won’t find it listed on the Florida State Park website, or many other directories. You’ll make a reservation on the Brevard County website. While it’s a hidden gem sitting along Florida’s Atlantic coast, it can book up fast.
Making reservations is moderately difficult, but with the right planning, you can snag a spot.
Campground overview
The park is laid out in a series of loops, with about 180 spots, 163 of which have electricity, water, and a sewer connection. The spots are fairly close together, which can make arrival and departure a bit tricky.
The campground does provide a lot of natural shade. You’ll have plenty of tall trees to provide shade and temper those hot Florida days.
Campground amenities
If you get a little too hot, you can cool off in the park’s pool. The pool is centrally located near other activities. You’ll find a freshly-built pickleball court, rec room, library and laundry services on the grounds. You’ll also find a fishing pier. Overlooking the Indian River Lagoon, it’s a great spot to fish or simply take a stroll. And for those traveling with dogs, the fenced-in dog park is a hit.
