If you’ve done research on Florida adventures, you may have come across “Real Florida Adventures.” These spots are often “Florida-unique” destinations that are worth a visit without being overly touristy. De Leon Springs is one of those places.

Location and favorite features

DeLeon Springs State Park is about an hour north of Orlando, tucked inside an amazing state park. The property has two popular features: The springs and an old restaurant. While there are other amenities that you should explore throughout the park, these are our top two favorite things to do.

The springs

Inside you will notice that there is a beautiful springs, and that is really the focal point of this particular state park. Florida is known for these kinds of natural springs. There’s about a thousand of them scattered throughout Florida, and no two are alike. But what they do share in similarity is the temperature of the water. No matter which springs you visit, no matter what the season, no matter what the weather, the water is always going to be about 72 degrees, give or take a degree or two.

You’ll also notice that all of the springs that you visit have crystal clear water. So they’re really popular spots for people to bring their snorkels.

Old Sugar Mill Restaurant

The other popular thing about this particular state park is its old restaurant, called the Old Sugar Mill Restaurant. One of the coolest features about it is that each one of the tables has a griddle on it, and they will bring you pancake batter to make your own pancakes. It’s a fairly small restaurant and very popular. So, call ahead before you go, or you can join the wait list on Yelp.
