For years, Flooded Lead Acid (FLA) batteries have been the standard for house batteries on RVs. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be drawn down and recharged, and are rated by amp hours, or how many amp draws you have or hours you can run whatever's drawing power. Their greatest downfall is that they sulfate, taking a battery that should last 5 to 7 years and making it only last 2 to 3.

So what is the best alternative for your vehicle? In this quick video lesson, RV maintenance and repair expert Dave Solberg discusses why you can't just swap out FLA batteries for another option. You have to know proper battery charging profile in order to know what's viable for your house batteries and your unique needs. If you currently have FLA batteries that need to be replaced, follow along as Dave talks you through the ins and outs of battery charging profile so you're aware of the best solution for your rig's new batteries.
