Roof Cleaning
Dave SolbergCleaning and conditioning your rig's roof is an important part of any good RV maintenance and repair schedule. You should aim to do this crucial step at least once per year, but it could be as often as two or three times if you're frequently out in the elements. The cleaning supplies and conditioner you use will depend on the material of your vehicle's roof and the type of RV travel you do.
For general roof materials without a wax or ceramic coating, the go-to detergent for RV maintenance and repair expert Dave Solberg has always been Dawn dish soap. There are now more than a dozen types of roof material on the market today, so you'll want to do your homework to determine what material you have and decide what cleaner/conditioner combo you should use.
Dave walks you through the process of figuring out your roof's needs, and then he gets up on the roof of our demo vehicle to show you how it's done. You'll learn how to inspect your roof for damage and spots that need to be resealed, as well as the best methods for scrubbing your roofing and laying down a protective coat of conditioner. With Dave's help, you can make your rig's roof last as long as possible!
