Tomoka State Park - Campground Review
Jason & Lisa McEwenLooking for a fun place to RV in Florida? Consider Tomoka State Park. It is in Northeast Florida, pretty close to Daytona Beach.
To sum up Tomoka State Park, our RV contributors, Jason and Lisa McEwen, describe the spot as submerged in nature. You’re going to find some really spacious campground sites. You’re also going to find some great spots for fishing and kayaking. All in all, just a really great calm, quiet state park to visit.
Availability
The state park is not far from the beach, and as many of you know, any time you’re trying to check in to these particular campgrounds that are along the ocean side, availability can be limited.
However, this particular state park isn’t as hard to get into as, say, Gamble Rogers State Park, but you’ll need to book your spot at least several months in advance.
Campground features
One of the biggest features for this particular state park is its fishing and kayaking. If you love to fish, this is definitely the place to come. You can fish right in the Halifax River. The family-owned Tomoka Outpost has all the supplies you’ll need, which is right near the water and fishing docks.
You can also rent kayaks and canoes. It’s a great place to spend an hour or two with the family out on the water.
Since you’re so close to the Atlantic Ocean, the closest beach is Ormond Beach. So, if you want to set up camp and use this particular state park as your base to plan beach days, it’s a good locale for that.
Campground description
The park has roughly 100 sites. Now, the kicker to this particular campground is that it is not big rig friendly. All of the sites are meant for campers that are 34ft or less. So, if you’ve got a big rig, you’re not going to be able to camp here.
That’s a quick look at Tomoka State Park. If you and your family are looking for a great place to RV in Florida, this would make a great home base.
